Every year Caribbean Business of Puerto Rico holds its much-anticipated 40 Under 40 event which honors that years most exemplary young Puerto Rican professionals and entrepreneurs. In 2016, the event planners for the first time introduced a voting system that allowed voters to select their choices online. This both made the selection of the winner more democratic and helped make the whole thing more transparent, showing the population that there wasn’t any manipulation of the winner by the judges.
The 2016 event had a significantly broader range of industries represented than ever before. The represented industries included healthcare, engineering, human resources management, advertising, agriculture, information technology, data processing, and architecture. That year’s winner ended up being Francisco Domenech, lawyer and managing partner of lobby firm, Politank. He has also had close political ties to Hillary Clinton and the Puerto Rican Resident Commissioner-elect, Jenniffer Gonzalez. He has previously served as a superdelegate to both the 2008 and 2012 Democratic National Committee on behalf of Young Democrats of America. He has had a close political relationship with Clinton for many years, serving as her presidential campaign spokesperson in Puerto Rico. He first began endorsing her Democratic political activities in 2008. He assisted both with that presidential campaign and her 2016 presidential campaign. At that time Francisco Domenech was serving as the Director of the Office of Legislative Services of the Puerto Rico Legislative Assembly and was an active member of the Young Democrats. He is so strong a part of this last group that he is its original founding president.
He decided to support her because he became deeply convinced that she was needed to get the country back where it should be. He has maintained this strong belief in the many years since.
